The Software Architect will be at the forefront of architecture of software for VSS' new generation of high-performance appliances and platform. This individual will be part of a team developing very high performance applications and packet processing software to expand VSS’ network monitoring, management, and application capabilities. You will be part of, and work closely with a team of outstanding Firmware, QA and hardware engineers.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and seasoned software architect with proven leadership experience in technology strategy and product delivery. This is a fast-paced and profitable startup that requires a commitment to excellence and efficiency. VSS has a growing customer base, and is expanding their product development capabilities to continue its successful growth and expansion.
You will be a key part of the development team and work closely with QA, and the firmware teams.
Requirements and Experience:
- BS or MS (Preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering, or closely related discipline
- Proven experience setting the architectural vision and working effectively with development teams.
- Experience supporting multiple products, estimating project requirements.
- Demonstrated experience on embedded Multicore/Multithreaded architectures.
- Experience driving networking technology architecture and infrastructure design activities.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in developing high performance software and communication services with detailed knowledge of network protocols and packet structures, especially Layers 2 through 4.
- Very strong C language skills, including algorithm design, performance optimization, and troubleshooting in embedded environment preferably Linux.
- Evidence of excellent engineering practices including specification and design, development, and use of source control and defect tracking systems, and unit-test case development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment.
- Requires an experienced, motivated, self-starter who requires little guidance.
